Catalog : Product Designer

This section of the platform is for interactively creating / applying designs to Products. 

Platform users have access to any Products that they create / own, along with others that specific access has been granted to.


What is Product Designer?

The Product Designer is an interactive design tool featuring 'drag and drop' functionality. It serves to allow design content to be 'created' without the use of dedicated artwork packages. 

A design can comprise of image and/or text objects, which are positioned / applied against a selected Blank Product.

Created designs can then be saved as a Virtual Product.


The Product Designer has 4 distinct fixed sections within the UI.


CONTENT MENUS
The menus down the left side of the UI features selectable content;
  1. Blank Products: Displays Blank Products associated with your user account.
    Selecting a Blank Product loads it into the designer.
  1. My Products: Stores any saved Product Designs for future editing.
    Selecting a design loads it into the designer.
  1. Artwork: Add new or select existing Artwork from Galleries associated with your user account.
    Selecting an image adds it to your design where it can be interactively positioned / scaled.
  1. Text: Add new Text objects your user account.
    Selecting a Font adds it to your design where it can be interactively positioned / scaled.


INTERACTIVE PREVIEW
Central to the UI is the interactive preview, showing the Blank Product and design content when it is added.

The preview offers a simple Zoom In / Out function.


For Blank Products configured with multiple sides, a preview selection becomes available to switch between them.
This allows you to apply designs to a specific location eg 'Front', or multiple locations eg 'Front' then 'Back'.

Additional Blank Product options can be selected to design against a specific Colour / Size variation (if available).
These options can be changed later on during the Save process.




DESIGN RIBBON
Product Designer has several design functions across the top ribbon.

  1. Grid: Adds a visual grid to aid in aligning elements of your design
  2. Guidelines: Displays the Print Area of the Blank Product
  3. Select All: Selects all added design objects including Artwork and Text
  4. Undo: Reverts the last change
  5. Trash: Deletes the selected / active object
  6. Start New: Clears the design so you can start over
  7. Save: Saves the Product and design as a Virtual Product


DESIGN TOOLS
The menus down the right side of the designer features the main tools for changing your design content;

  1. Objects: Any added Artwork or Text is listed as an 'Object'.
    Objects are selectable to allow easy editing when working with more complex designs.
  1. Text: Contains standard text settings for selected Text Objects.
    Settings include; Placeholder, Font, Size, Alignment and Bold / Italics.
  1. Appearance: Contains a range of tools that can be used to change the appearance of selected Artwork or Text Objects.
    Options include; Duplicate, Layer Order, Object Alignment, Rotate, Effects.
Some Appearance tools are contextual and only appear when Artwork or Text Objects are selected.
  1. Artwork specific tools include: Flip, Crop, Clear White, Tiling
  2. Text specific tools include: Fill Colour, Outline Colour, Stroke Thickness
