Company Settings: Shipping Rules
Shipping Rules allows users to map the shipping method and shipping carrier fields of incoming orders to different values.
This is useful if a company is sending a specific shipping method but the value sent into a fulfiller needs to be different.
In order for Shipping Rules to apply, both the "From Carrier" and "From Method" must match exactly to the orders shipping carrier and shipping method.

How does it work?
Users can add an entry by clicking the "+ Rule" Button which will add a new blank entry. Once an entry has been made users can map specifically from a carrier and method.

This means if a standard method is used, users can map so that the carrier can be used, an example of this can be using "Hermes" or "Royal Mail" based on certain rules.

There are specific additional options that can be set within the Advanced dropdown. These include the following.
  1. Weight - A minimum to maximum weight value set in grams.
  2. Quantity - A minimum to maximum quantity value.
  3. Price - A minimum exclude to include tax price value.
Rules can be set based on specific countries, simply press the "From Country" value and scroll through the available options.
Once a rule has been set they will always apply as long as the Sales Channel sends "Standard", the system will automatically map to the requested Carrier.
If no rule matches, users can enable the "Wildcard" toggle which means if there is no match the system will automatically use the set Wildcard which does not use a From Country, Carrier or Method.
Users can delete any Shipping Rules they no longer want to apply by clicking the Trash Icon

What kind of rules can be set?
The below are some examples of the kind of Shipping Rules users can set to control specific shipments.
  1. Orders to be delivered to mainland Europe between 1 and 99g = Carrier 1.
  2. Orders to be delivered to mainland Europe more than 100g = Carrier 2.
  3. Orders to be delivered to USA of between 1 and 3 items = Carrier 3, Method 1.
  4. Orders to be delivered to USA of more than 3 items - Carrier 3, Method 2.
The above rules are some examples of Shipping Rules that can be set, the possibilities for rules are endless. These include the possibility to set advanced settings such as Weights, Quantities and Pricing.
On top of these example Rules within the advanced dropdown users can set specific shipping prices and taxes so users can control prices set for rules dependant on the Country and exact rules set.

What is a Wild-Card entry?
A Wild-Card entry can be used to match all values, Wild Cards will only be used if all other rules cannot be followed, this will overwrite the rules and will ONLY be used if there are no matching rules.
For example a Wildcard can be set for one specific method and carrier so that if their is not a rule for send 5 items being delivered to USA, the system will use the default wild-card method.
