Imports: Variants

The Variants Import provides a convenient way for Fulfillers to upload and apply Variant information to Products within the Catalog.

The required import format is CSV.

What is the Variant Import used for?
The import is used by Fulfillers to create Variants or to edit existing ones.

CreateAdd new Variants to Products in bulk.

To create new Variants, the relevant Products should first be 'selected' or filtered in Product Manager prior to generating a Variant Export.

The generated CSV file serves as a template, allowing the Product data to be added in a format that is then suitable for use with the Variant Import to update the Products.
It is recommended that Imports are tested on a sample range prior to rollout across a high volume of Products.

The CSV must be populated with data based on how the Products are currently configured, with relevant names as defined in the Catalog. This can be achieved in two ways:
  1. Utilise other Exports (eg Attributes and Excel) to download relevant data in bulk, this can be extracted and used to populate the Variant Import
  2. Review the configuration of each Product by clicking Edit in Product Manager

Failure to specify and match the relevant option names defined against the Products will result in the import failing.

Note: When creating new Variants, the Variant ID field should be kept empty - the system will creates these automatically when new Variants are added.

EditUpdate existing Variants across a range of Products. Some typical use cases are;
  1. To review / replace the Stock Product IDs in bulk.
  2. To review / edit Aspects and Aspect options set within Variants.
  3. To review / edit Attributes set within Variants.
To edit Variants, the relevant Products should be 'selected' or filtered in Product Manager prior to generating a Variant Export.

The generated CSV file serves as a template, allowing the Product data to be edited in a format that is then suitable for use with the Variant Import to update the Products.
It is recommended that Imports are tested on a sample range prior to rollout across a high volume of Products.
