RIP Integrations: Kornit QuickP

RIP Integrations: Kornit QuickP

Introduction
To integrate Kornit X and Kornit QuickP in to one singular workflow we must use the RIP integration 'Kornit QuickP Auto Crop'.

This RIP integration is simple to set up and does two important things:

1. The Offset X and Y are dynamically calculated based on the position of the art work against the print area on the products aspect, once the items have been batched and the picking labels are downloaded.
NOTE - if you are using print sizes on products to reduce the size of the print with garment sized by a fixed multiplier you can enable "Calculate Offsets Relative to Standard Print Size" on each job template required. This will modify the X offset in the download filename to compensate for reductions made to the output. The Y offset always remains the same.

2. The file name convention is used when downloading the artwork from the display scan point.

The set up for this function is fairly simple, however there are three point that must be set up for it to work:

1. Product setup
2. RIP integration
3. Batch templates

Product Setup
The product must be setup as standard however the prnt areas size must be the same as the relevant pallet on the Kornit  machine.

The product will also need to have the Kornit attributes added to them as attributes sets, as these are used to create the file name.

To create an attribute set in the Kornit X Platform go to Settings> Attribute Sets

Click on the button'+ New set' and give the set a name and select your company from the Owner drop-down box and save.

An Attributes button will appear, click on it and add the attributes.

If the product has one print area you will need to just set up a basic attribute set where the attribute name and the value are added to the relevant fields:
attribute.name
attribute.value
Kornit Setup
Teeblack
Kornit Table
Standard Platten

The Kornit Offsets for X and Y do not need to be manually set on the attribute sets, as these are created dynamically by the system based on the image position against the print area on the product.

If you have previously set up the Kornit Offsets for X and Y these will be ignored and the dynamically created one's will be used instead
OPTIONAL: ADVANCED PRINT AREA SETTINGS
This section only applies to advanced uses of the Kornit workflow

It is possible if required to allow you to have different Kornit attributes on your blank and virtual products per Print Area. For example the print are on the front back back of a t-shirt will have different print set up that the sleeves.

The attributes set can be set up in the same way except there must be a attribute set for each print area for the 'Kornit Table'.

attribute.name
attribute.value
Kornit Setup
TeeBlack
Kornit Table Front
Standard Platten
Kornit Table Back
Standard Platten
Kornit Table Left Sleeve

Kornit Table Right Sleeve

RIP Integration
The RIP integration 'Kornit QuickP Auto Crop'.  dynamically adds the Kornit X and Y offsets and enables you to download the files in the correct naming convention to be ingested by QuickP.

To set this up a Kornit production centre company will need to be created and the RIP integration 'Kornit QuickP Auto Crop' will need to be enabled on it.

The Production integration 'Kornit QuickP' is not required and if you are switching from this to the RIP Integration we recommend you turn it off.

TIFF and TIFF Outputs
Some Kornit printers such as Avalanche and Storm only support the file extension TIF and not TIFF while the Altas will support both. If printing using TIF artwork on a machine that only supports the 3 character extension then this can be set on a job template under the Kornit QuickP settings

TIFF and TIFF artwork with Alpha Channels
In some cases designers may want to create print ready artwork containing alpha channels which on a Kornit printer change the way transparency is dealt with. If this is the case products can be made using out From Artwork Virtual Product Wizard and use the "Upload Print Ready Artwork" function. An important point of note is that we cannot auto crop TIFF files with Alpha Channels as they would be stripped out, our integration is set to automatically not crop TIFF and TIF files so co-ordinates will always be 0,0.

Batch Templates
Consolidation batch's need to be created for each product type with all of the reliant SKU's  and the Kornit production centre company added to it.

On the link below is a batch template creation guide.

Updated Integration Features
At KornitX we have continued to develop updates for variants and this is due to the fact we pride ourselves on constant evolution and the release of new features and enhancements every week. We have detailed each new variant enhancement below. If you are interested in knowing what features arrive, they will be continually updated within the "Core Platform Feature Updates" Article - CLICK HERE
This will continue to be updated below whenever a new enhancement is rolled out to improve variants, a time stamp will be labelled with each feature

Our QuickP RIP Integration has since been updated to support the file type of TIFF, as well as the .TIFF output naming conventions. This means that anyone who wishes to process TIFF through this integration can use products set up with TIFF through this. There is no additional setting to select when configuring this integration.

Our QuickP RIP Integration has been updated to allow the option for Auto Cropping to now be an optional field of your integration. To enable this option you need to head to your integration and click the "Enable Auto Crop" to set this.
